In 2015 many of us watched as the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance was defeated at the ballot.
We all know that Houston is the most diverse city in the nation and we have made history on LGBTQ rights time and time again, so the loss of HERO had a deep impact. Many of us asked, "What now?" and "Where do we go from here?".
Transform Houston was formed to answer those questions. In order to undo the damage done by our opposition during HERO and to prepare our city for the day when a new nondiscrimination law is passed, we have to start having conversations with voters now.
We will go into the neighborhoods where HERO failed and talk to voters about nondiscrimination, judgement and equality. We will use techniques that are proven to reduce transphobia and build support for laws that protect all Houstonians.
